Two bits of unfortunate news to share this year: Foiled Again! has had to decline the invitation to return to Shrewsbury Faire this year, as we did not feel we would have time to prepare a high-quality act we could all be proud of presenting. We may visit anyway, as we have friends who will be in the area, but will not be performing as Foiled Again.

Closer to home for us, and yet less personal in impact, is the cancellation of the Washington Ren Faire, as described in this article in the Seattle P-I. We still hope that Foiled Again can return to the Ren Faire circuit next year, but only time will tell!

Gramercy and well met to all who came to see us at the Shrewsbury Faire this year!

A good time was had by all, despite heat and high wind, and we owe many thanks to Gareth and Yr Gwyliad for their great hospitality and companionship. Kevin has been nicknamed ‘the Ripper’ in memory of a pair of Gareth’s breeches which need repair- the match was with rubber knives, so don’t worry, he wasn’t really trying to carve up his friends. We were also very pleased to share the stage again with Tobias the Adequate, whose debt we are in for helping us wrangle crowds for what he dubbed our shared ‘hour of bad judgement’.

I’m told we’re to blame for the sale of several wooden swords at the least, from Parents who seemed uncertain whether this was a compliment to our entertainment or a prelude to an eternal enmity. Only time and the injuries of siblings will tell.
A new folder is being added to our gallery for our 2007 appearance there, and anyone with their own personal pictures is asked to please share them with us!

Thanks to the generous support of patrons from last years’ performance, Foiled Again! is pleased to announce that we will be performing again at the Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire, September 8th and 9th, 2007. We are working on expanding and improving our act, with new toys, new fights, and a new guest performer as well! All that remains is to actually finish writing, choreographing, learning, and practicing said act- simple as picking a duel with a drunk Venetian, really. Our mystery guest should be appearing in the bio section soon, so keep checking back.

Thanks again to those whose words of encouragement and generosity with spare change last year have helped to secure our return.

We greatly enjoyed the opportunity to perform at the Shrewsbury Faire, both for the company of visitors who came to see us and the opportunity to meet so many great performers (we cannot recommend Tobias the Adequate enough). We’ve added some photos of the show to our gallery section, so please take a moment to check them out.

While Olivia somehow never found the time to meet with the great tailors displaying their wares (for which Edmund will be forever grateful), we consider our time there wonderfully spent. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our nursemaids, who help answer the question “How many university degrees does it take to watch a two-year old child?”

Our special thanks to the young Lord who approached Edmund to tell him that his “swordfighting is good.” The highest compliment!

Saturday September 9th and Sunday the 10th, we’re proud to announce that Foiled Again! will be playing the Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire in Kings Valley. OR. Three times daily, Edmund Foible will be fighting that great Itallian master of the rapier, Salviotolini (ooooo!). I can tell you are very impressed.

The gates open at 10am and close at 6 in the evning, so come out and join our revels with the Shrew (but not before printing this coupon for a dollar off your admission to the Faire). See you at there!
